Terms of Service

These terms cover use of the Protechted website, the supply and fitting of our vehicle security products, the Care plan, our call-out visits, OEM+ coding and protection film. By booking with us you agree to them. They do not affect your statutory rights.

What we provide

Protechted supplies and fits a vehicle-specific OBD port security kit, together with Faraday key-signal blocking products and a sealed emergency access card. How the kit works is explained to you in person at fitting. All work is subject to vehicle compatibility, which we confirm from your registration before taking payment.

What it is and isn't

Our package is a deterrent designed to prevent theft by OBD key programming and, with correct use of the Faraday products, relay attacks. It is not a tracker or immobiliser, it is not Thatcham-approved, and it does not change your vehicle's insurance security category. No security product can guarantee a vehicle will not be stolen.

Prices and deposits

The Protechted package is £299 supplied and fitted. Kits are specific to your vehicle and cannot be fitted to another car. We therefore take a £150 deposit, which covers the cost of your kit, before ordering it. The balance of £149 is due on the day of fitting. You confirm your vehicle details before we order. Once your kit has been ordered, the deposit is non-refundable unless we cancel or cannot supply the kit. This does not affect any statutory rights you have that cannot be excluded.

Care plan

Care costs £12.99 a month by Direct Debit, or £139 a year paid upfront. The monthly plan has a 12-month minimum term; after that you can cancel at any time with 30 days' notice. The yearly plan runs for 12 months and renews unless you cancel before the renewal date.

Care includes, in each 12-month period from your start date: up to 2 garage visits; booked visits within 2 working days; replacement of your sealed emergency access card; removal of your protection when you sell your car; member rates for any further visits; and £149 fitting for your next car. Unused visits do not carry over. Your fitting warranty continues for as long as your Care plan is active.

If you cancel Care, your protection stays fitted and any later visits are charged at pay-as-you-go prices. If a Care payment fails and is not paid within 14 days, we may suspend Care benefits until it is.

Call-out visits and prices

A garage visit means we prepare your vehicle before a garage appointment and re-secure it afterwards. Please book at least 2 working days before your garage date. Booked visits take place Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm (Care+ members may also book Saturday mornings). Emergency call-outs run from 7am to 9pm, seven days a week; requests outside those hours are handled from 7am. Visits are free of travel charges within 15 miles of our base in Beddau; beyond that, a travel charge of £15 per trip applies.

Prices without Care: garage visit £79; emergency call-out (same day or next morning, 8am to 6pm on weekdays) £149; evening (after 6pm on weekdays) or weekend emergency £169; replacement sealed card £69; removal £49; next car £199 fitted. Prices for Care members: garage visits beyond those included £29; emergency £49; evening or weekend emergency £79. Prices for Care+ members: garage visits beyond those included £29; emergency beyond the one included £39; evening or weekend emergency £59.

An emergency means your vehicle cannot be diagnosed or repaired without access to the port and cannot wait for a booked visit. If you are not on Care when you request an emergency call-out, you may join Care at that time and pay the member rate for that visit; your Care plan then starts that day with its 12-month minimum term. Benefits are not backdated.

Sealed emergency access card

Keep your sealed card somewhere safe at home and never in the vehicle. You may open it at any time, at no charge, if your vehicle needs urgent access and you cannot reach us. After it has been opened we will re-secure the vehicle and issue a new sealed card, which is free on Care and £69 otherwise. Please do not share the contents or photograph them.

OEM+ coding

Coding is £39 for up to 3 features when added to an install or garage visit, £79 for up to 3 features on a separate visit, and £129 for everything your vehicle supports. Coding is paid on the day and needs no deposit. Available functions depend on model year, equipment, software version and control-unit configuration, and we confirm compatibility before making any change. We save your original settings first and can restore them. We never disable safety systems, and we may decline any change that could affect safety or that we cannot verify as suitable. Some manufacturers may treat coding changes as modifications; if your vehicle is under a manufacturer warranty, please ask us before booking.

Protection film

Film prices are confirmed for your exact vehicle and the coverage you choose; prices shown as "from" vary by model. Film added to a security install is £30 less than the listed price. Kits we hold in stock need no deposit. Other kits are cut for your vehicle, so we take a 50% deposit before ordering, with the balance due on fitting day. Once a kit has been ordered, the deposit is non-refundable unless we cancel or cannot supply it, subject to your statutory rights. You need to provide a dry, covered space for fitting. Minor dust or edge variations can occur with any film installation. The film carries the manufacturer's warranty; our fitting is guaranteed for 12 months.

Care+

Care+ costs £19.99 a month by Direct Debit, or £219 a year paid upfront, on the same minimum term and cancellation terms as Care. It includes everything in Care, plus, in each 12-month period: up to 3 garage visits in total (instead of 2); 1 emergency call-out; priority booking (we aim to attend booked visits on the next working day, and Saturday mornings are available); and one replacement of damaged screen protection film that we fitted. Unused visits and replacements do not carry over.

Member discounts

Customers with an active Care plan get 10% off OEM+ coding and protection film; Care+ customers get 15%. Discounts apply to the price at the time of booking and cannot be combined with trade rates.

Trade customers

Trade work for dealers and detailers is quoted separately and invoiced monthly on the terms agreed in writing.

Your right to cancel

Where you agree a contract with us away from business premises (for example at your home) or online, you normally have 14 days to cancel. If you ask us to fit or provide a service within that period and then cancel, we may charge a proportionate amount for work already done. Once fitting is complete, the right to cancel the fitting service ends. Your rights where goods or services are faulty are not affected. We give you full cancellation information when you book.

Fitting

We fit at your home or workplace. You need to provide safe access to the vehicle and its keys. Fitting is plug-and-play, with no cutting or splicing of your vehicle's wiring. We test the vehicle and its diagnostics before we leave.

Warranty

Our fitting is guaranteed for 12 months, or for as long as you are on Care if longer. If something we fitted fails to work correctly in that time, we will return and put it right at no charge. Products also carry the manufacturer's own guarantee. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, tampering, or removal or alteration by anyone else.

Your part

Book a garage visit before your vehicle is serviced, tested or repaired. Faraday products only work when your keys are inside them. Please do not share details of your installation publicly. Tell us if you sell or change your vehicle so we can remove or move your protection.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under UK law. Subject to that, our liability arising from any service is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for loss of or damage to your vehicle caused by theft or attempted theft.
